The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lamar University (Beaumont, TX) invites applications for multiple Doctoral Research Assistantships in environmental engineering to join the Center for Advances in Water and Air Quality, starting in Summer or Fall 2017. The multidisciplinary research center is created to focus on addressing the challenges in water sustainability and air quality faced by industries and in coastal regions, developing an internationally recognized program in air and water research, and promoting higher education programs.
The successful candidates can join research teams in one of the following areas:
1) Water-nutrient-energy nexus;
2) Innovative short-cut biological nutrient removal;
3) Water and waste management in oil/gas industries.
Research assistants will receive a competitive monthly stipend, a full tuition remission and benefits. Ideal candidates should have M.S. in an engineering discipline (including but not limited to: environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental science, agricultural engineering, microbiology and etc) to be admitted to the doctoral program. Candidates with BS only but have research experience will also be considered. Good communication skills in English (written and spoken), and the ability to work in a team are required.
