The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the School of Engineering, Rutgers—New Brunswick, is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of associate or full professor in the area of Environmental Engineering. Exceptional assistant professor candidates may also be considered. The anticipated start date of the employment is September 1, 2017. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The Department is looking for an outstanding individual with expertise in one of the following, or related areas of Environmental Engineering: Water and Wastewater Treatment, Resource Recovery, Environmental Systems, Water Resources and Coastal Engineering, and Geo-Environmental Engineering.Emerging areas with potential for future growth are of particular interest.  The hire is intended to augment the expanded growth of the Department in the new Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering Building scheduled for completion in Fall 2018.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field. Associate or full professor candidates should have at least five years of experience in academia. The candidate should have a strong scholarly record recognized through: research funding from diverse sources, including competitive funding agencies, a significant number of publications in recognized journals, noteworthy invited presentations made at national and international conferences, and active participation in professional societies.  The candidate also should have an excellent record of instruction on both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as of mentoring of graduate and post-doctoral students. We are seeking a candidate with an established national reputation in her/his field and be well on her/his way to international recognition.  Collaborative research with researchers within and outside the current institution will be viewed as added strength.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a well-funded research program and collaborate with other research programs inside and outside the University. The successful candidate is also expected to develop and teach new courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels within the department that incorporate the state of the art knowledge and innovations.
