Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for the Alena and David M. Schwaber Professor of Environmental Engineering. The A.D.M. Schwaber Professorship is a senior-level position to be filled at the Associate or Professor rank in one of two areas: Water Resources Sustainability - (to address sustainable water solutions in areas such as water supply, storm water, resilient water systems, system impacts from global warming, and/or green engineering) or Environmental Microbiology -(as applied to areas such as water supply and human health, bioremediation, biological treatment, and/or drinking water pathogens). This person is expected to lead multidisciplinary research initiatives that span science across engineering policy.
The successful candidate will join a group of faculty in WPI's Environmental Engineering Program and Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department who are dedicated to the development of innovative research and exceptional project-based educational programs that complement our Department's current initiatives and strengths (http://www.wpi.edu/+CEE) and align with WPI's strategic plan (http://wp.wpi.edu/strategicplan).
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering or a closely related engineering field. A professional engineering license or the ability to obtain one is also desirable. The successful applicant must have a proven record of funding in one of these areas, and a vision for collaborative interaction across many related disciplines. The ideal candidate would have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and must have a strong interest in innovative project based teaching methods and curriculum development to support the environmental engineering program.
