Job Type:
Job Rank:
Postdoctoral research associate
Job Institution:
Clemson University
Job Description:

The Popat Lab in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate.  The postdoc will lead on one of the on-going projects on anaerobic treatment of rendering wastewater and landfill leachate, anaerobic co-digestion of municipal sludge with other organic wastes, or development of bio-electrochemical sensors for wastewater treatment, as well as train and assist graduate students on other projects.  Other possible projects to lead on could also include anaerobic membrane bioreactors for domestic and industrial wastewater treatment, or developing new methods in microbial electrochemistry to probe dissimilatory metal reducing bacteria.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Chemical, Environmental or Bioprocess Engineering, or Environmental Microbiology, by the time of appointment.  Experience in anaerobic digestion, bio-electrochemical systems, or membrane bioreactors is especially preferred.  Review of applications will begin immediately, and will continue until a suitable candidate is selected.  The position is available as early as June 2017, for a duration of one year, with possible renewable for a second year depending on satisfactory progress and funding availability.  To apply, send an email to Dr. Sudeep Popat at spopat@clemson.edu with a one-page cover letter, a CV, a list of at three references, and copies of two relevant publications combined into one PDF file.  Any questions about the position may also be directed to Dr. Popat.
