Job Summary
There is an immediate opening to teach Understanding our Environment (ENVS 100) at the University of San Francisco. The schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40 to 3:55 p.m. Classes start Tuesday August 22, 2017. This course is an introduction to environmental science and environmental studies for non-science majors. It examines the environmental impact of population growth on natural resources; mineral and resource extraction; water resource use and water pollution; air pollution and climate change; and conventional and sustainable energy supplies. Emphasis is placed on a holistic approach to environmental science using class discussions, laboratory exercises, and environmental surveys to reinforce scientific principles.

Job Responsibilities
Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40 to 3:55 p.m. The fall semester runs from August 22 through December 6, 2017, followed by a week of mandatory final exams with grades due no later than January 2, 2018.

A minimum of two office hours per week are required.

The faculty member will assume responsibility and accountability for:

*Facilitating student learning
*Evaluate student performance; providing frequent student feedback to enable success; meeting with student at mid-term and end of course to assign grades.
*Teach to the approved syllabus, which will be provided. Many course materials will be provided to the successful applicant and may be used at their discretion to teach required course content.

Requirements
Minimum qualification: MS in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering or related field with teaching experience

Preferred qualification: PhD in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
