Graduate

Environmental Microbiology

We have a fully funded graduate student opening (Ph.D.) for studying plant-microbe interactions to minimize greenhouse gas emissions from terrestrial environments.

A Master’s degree in civil engineering (environmental focus), chemical engineering (environmental/biology focus), and microbiology/bioinformatics is preferred. The graduate student will be fully funded by research and/or teaching assistantships. Experience or interest in wet chemistry, aseptic experiments, and genetic engineering is preferred.

Climate change and Critical Infrastructure systems

The University of the District Columbia (UDC) is seeking four PhD students to be appointed as a Research Assistant to conduct research in climate change analytics with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), beginning Spring 2023. Women or students of minority background are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, national or permanent resident in order to be considered.

Environmental Sensor Development and Advanced Material and Data Science.

Professor Baikun Li in The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Connecticut (UConn) invites applications for a Graduate Research Assistant position to pursue frontier research on multiple topics related with electrochemical water/soil sensor development, advanced material science, advanced data science, and data-driven modeling. This position can be available in Spring 2023.

Air Pollution, Atmospheric Chemistry, Aerosol

Atmospheric aerosol particles affect air quality, human health, and global climate. The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Atmospheric Chemistry Group (https://sites.google.com/uah.edu/shanhulee) is seeking talented and motivated graduate students to perform research in the area of air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, and aerosol particles. Specifically, this advertised project aims to understand atmospheric formation and growth processes, via laboratory and field observations and data simulations.

Fluid Dynamics Application Modeler

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full time Fluid Dynamics Application Modeler position with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, NC.

The Office of Research and Development at the EPA supports high-quality research to improve the scientific basis for decisions on national environmental issues and help EPA achieve its environmental goals. Research is conducted in a broad range of environmental areas by scientists in EPA laboratories and at universities across the country.

Hydrology/renewable energy

PhD position at Temple University

We have a fully funded graduate student opening (PhD) for studying sustainable engineering solutions to lower the environmental and economic cost of solar energy development by providing novel analysis methodologies and field data on solar energy – agriculture colocation approaches from multiple sites.

Funded PhD positions in water treatment and desalination

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Colorado State University (CSU) is currently seeking 2 graduate research assistants (Ph.D. students are preferred, although M.S. students are considered) to start in Spring 2023 or Fall 2023. The students will conduct NSF-funded research to (1) design and develop sustainable biomimetic membranes for membrane distillation, and (2) explore the mechanisms and develop mitigation strategies associated with mineral scaling in reverse osmosis.
