PhD/MS positions are available in the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at the North Dakota State University (NDSU) to study the environmental impacts of emerging bioproducts. Our research goal is to identify pathways for producing bio-based materials that cost-effectively reduce the environmental impacts of the chemical industry. Both students will utilize tools such as life cycle assessment and cost benefit analysis to determine the environmental impacts and cost of renewable and bio-based products including biopolymers, biochemicals, bioadhesives, bioplastics and biocomposites.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical or polymer engineering and experience with programming as well as process simulation software such as Aspen Plus/Polymers.
Interested candidates should contact Dr. Ghasideh Pourhashem (Ghasideh.firstname.lastname@example.org), and apply to the Coatings and Polymeric Materials PhD program at NDSU.
NDSU is located in Fargo, the most populous city in the State of North Dakota. The city and the University provide excellent cultural and educational opportunities. Fargo is ranked as one of the fastest-growing small cities in the US, and is a cultural, retail, health care, educational, and industrial center for eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. NDSU is a comprehensive doctoral research university with programs involved in very high research activity. The Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at NDSU is internationally known for the excellence of its educational and research programs and has the longest and most extensive experience in offering training that focuses on special polymers used in coatings.
