Job Description

Two positions are available with flexible start dates but no later than June 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. These are multi-year positions, with an initial offer for one year. Future renewal is contingent on progress and performance. The Postdoctoral Fellows will participate in multiple SERDP-funded projects on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including developing novel characterization methods in environmental and biological samples, investigating biological defluorination, and developing treatment solutions. All projects involve collaborators in public or private sectors from the US, Canada or Europe.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or a relevant field is required. Experience in mass spectrometry and developing analytical methods is essential. Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and ion chromatography is desirable. Successful candidates will have an outstanding record of scholarship and doctoral/postdoctoral research related to the areas of research described above. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. The position will involve performing laboratory work, writing reports and manuscripts, mentoring students, stakeholder communication, and project management. Candidates should be able to work independently and also collaboratively with researchers in other science and engineering disciplines.
