Job Description: Two Ph.D. student positions are immediately available in Dr. Runwei Li’s lab at New Mexico State University. The positions will be supported by Dr. Runwei Li’s startup funds. The recruited Ph.D. students will work on the fate and transport of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the environment. Relevant tasks include:
- Field sampling;
- Quantification of PFAS in different matrices;
- Bench-scale fate/transport experiments (saturated and unsaturated);
- Developing machine learning models.
Qualification: The candidate must obtain an MS (preferred) or BS degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or a related field and have strong laboratory and antically skills. The successful candidate must show enough self-motivation and have a strong interest in related research. The successful candidate is expected to communicate research results at conferences and summarize research results in quality peer-reviewed journals. Experience with LC-MS/MS, machine learning, and Python/R programming is strongly desired.
The NMSU graduate school require successful candidate have a minimum GPA of 3.0. For international students, the minimum TOEFL (computer-based) test score is 79.
