Job Description

Dr. Dengjun (Kevin) Wang’s group at Auburn University has active projects on the transport, transformation, and remediation of organic contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pesticides, and non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs). For example, biochars and modified biochars showed good sorption efficiency for these contaminants, which can be further degraded by other destruction techniques such as advanced reduction and oxidation processes. The prospective candidate should have a good background in contaminant chemistry, analytical skills (GC-MS and HPLC-MS), material characterization by BET, XRD, FT-IR, XPS, etc., and environmental remediation (batch sorption and column transport studies). The selected candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with scientists, engineers, consultants, and many others at Auburn and beyond. The selected candidate will help mentor graduates and undergraduates, design and implement lab experiments, conduct analyses of project results, publish manuscripts in scientific journals, present research findings at professional meetings, and prepare proposals for additional extramural funding of the research program. For interested candidates, please send one PDF document including: (1) CV, (2) how your qualifications fit for this position, (3) research statement and career goal, and (4) three referees to Dr. Wang at dzw0065@auburn.edu.
