The environmental biotechnology group at Missouri University of Science and Technology is recruiting two PhD students in Environmental Engineering to begin Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. Students will conduct research to understand and engineer bio-inspired systems for degrading wastes, biomanufacturing, and carbon-neutral energy production. Students will apply analytical chemistry, molecular and synthetic biology, and computational approaches to answer fundamental and applied research questions. Students will be supervised by Dr. Hunter Schroer and potential research projects will be tailored to student interests and strengths.
The positions cover tuition, offer competitive stipends, and include health insurance and other benefits. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology/microbiology, etc.) and have strong scientific writing and communication skills. Interested candidates should email Dr. Hunter Schroer (env.biotech.mst@gmail.com) with a short statement of interest, a CV, and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
