Two Fully-Funded PhD Positions Available at the Guo Lab

The Guo Lab at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is seeking two highly motivated PhD students to join our team. Expected start date can be as early as Spring 2025.
Qualifications
• Bachalor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Environmental Engineering
• Extensive research experience in experimental labs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong team-working skills

• GRE (for non-ABET accredited institutes). Note: Candidates with a GRE writing score of 4 or higher are eligible to apply for Graduate School Fellowships (additional financial support on top of stipend, https://graduate-and-international.uark.edu/graduate/costs-and-funding/…).
o Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships (DDF): The DDF fellow receives an award of $22,000/year paid in lump sums for a maximum of 4 years.
o Doctoral Academy Fellowships (DAF): The DAF fellow receives an award of $12,000/year paid in lump sums for a maximum of 4 years.
About Us
Dr. Guo is a chemist by training. She received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Lanzhou University (undergraduate research supervisor: Dr. Wei Wang), China, and her PhD from UC Berkeley, where she worked on COFs and MOFs under Prof. Omar Yaghi. She then completed postdoctoral training at Caltech in Prof. Michael R. Hoffmann's group, focusing on environmental science and engineering. Dr. Guo joined the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville as an assistant professor in August 2022.
The Guo Lab (https://www.myresearch.top/ggroup/) explores new chemistry in functional materials for diverse applications. Our primary focus (funded projects) is PFAS-related chemistry, aiming to develop advanced monitoring and treatment technologies. We are also interested in other applications, such as bioimaging and biomolecular separation.
