A postdoctoral research fellow position is available immediately at the Water Resources Research Center, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The postdoctoral position will develop rapid molecular methods for the detection of bacterial and viral pathogens in food products through wastewater surveillance. Prior experiences and knowledge in molecular biology tools (including qPCR methodologies, and DNA hybridization and dissociation), metagenomic and bioinformatic tools, and wastewater surveillance are beneficial. Successful candidates should have a PhD in molecular biology, environmental science/engineering, environmental microbiology, food science, or other related disciplines.
Interested applicants should send a current CV and a short description of research interests to Dr. Tao Yan (taoyan@hawaii.edu) for consideration. Review of applications will start immediately. Additional information on the university and the research group can be found at https://www.wrrc.hawaii.edu/ and http://www2.hawaii.edu/~taoyan/.
