Job Description

A postdoc or research scientist position is available at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to work on a research project related to the application of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process for sustainable wastewater treatment with resource recovery.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, or related fields. The candidate should have a strong experience in: 1) operating anammox bioreactors (sequencing batch reactors, membrane bioreactors, upflow column reactors); 2) bioreactor design; 3) enriching anammox bacteria and understating their ecophysiology; 4) analytical chemistry and stable isotope experiments; and 5) general molecular biological tools (e.g., PCR, qPCR, and FISH) and bioinformatics analysis of meta-omic (metagenomics and metatranscriptomic) data.

Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication (written and oral English) skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment. In addition, the candidate will supervise graduate students, prepare manuscripts, and present results at national and international conferences. 

Compensation is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
