Job Description

Dr. XZ Niu's EC2 group (Environmental Chemistry of Emerging Contaminants Group) employ environmental organic chemistry and analytical chemistry approaches to identify and solve environmental and public health problems caused by organic pollutants. Research directions of the group include: 1) Aquatic photochemistry; 2) Fate & transport of organic pollutants; 3) Analysis and assessment of novel organic contaminants; 3) Analysis and biogeochemistry of natural organic matter.

The EC2 research group is seeking applicants for 1-2 graduate/doctoral student, with an expected starting date in Spring 2023 or Fall 2023. Experience with (at least one or more) the following areas is desired but not required: environmental analytical chemistry (e.g., HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, FTICR-MS), small molecule photochemistry/photophysics, oxidation process, water treatment process, organic contaminants fate and remediation, organic geochemistry. In addition, preference will be given to applicants who are interested in both fundamental sciences and industrial collaborations.
