The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University invites applicants for tenure-track or tenured positions at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels. The successful candidates must hold a doctoral degree or foreign degree equivalent in civil or environmental engineering; have an established record of high-quality research, and have a commitment to teaching and diversity and inclusion. Additionally, the HMR candidate will have attained national and international visibility with strong leadership skills and possess outstanding academic and scholarship credentials. All faculty will perform research as well as teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the ABET-accredited Civil and Environmental Engineering curricula. Candidates possessing professional engineering registration or the ability to obtain it will be considered favorably. The successful candidates are expected to contribute to the development of academic and research programs and make outstanding contributions to the research community. We are seeking exceptional candidates in all core areas of civil engineering, such as Structural, Environmental, Water Resources, Transportation, and Geotechnical engineering. Two areas that the department is interested in expanding its research profile include:
1) Water resources engineering with a focus on coastal resiliency. We seek candidates with expertise and interest in interdisciplinary research that contributes to enhancing the resilience of urban communities and infrastructure systems to the impacts of coastal natural hazards and climate change. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: urban hydrology, urban/regional water resources management, watershed modeling, urban flood analysis, coastal hydrodynamics, and computational fluid dynamics; modeling of natural hazards, infrastructure systems, risk and resilience assessment in coastal settings; and remote sensing in a coastal engineering context
2) Environmental engineering with a focus on water/wastewater treatment and reuse. We have a state-of-the-art environmental engineering laboratory with standard equipment for pollutant measurement. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, physical-chemical processes; contaminant fate and transport; food-energy-water nexus; environmental health; sustainable development and microbial ecology in engineered systems.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and student mentoring. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a strongly-funded research program and collaborate, as needed, with multi-disciplinary groups of faculty and professionals, including personnel at the South Jersey Technology Park, other campus centers, and our medical colleges.

[CDB3]I would cut all of this – it should just be expected from the candidates. The PE part is stated down in the qualifications section. It is also said below the two specific position statements.
[BSK4]Can we also include PhD degrees in environmental engineering, specifically. I know some universities have a separate environmental engineering department. My advisor at UVa’s PhD is in environmental engineering.
