Job Description

The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of environmental biogeochemistry. The research project will be focusing on biogeochemical transformations of heavy metals (particularly mercury), investigating the controlling factors and mechanisms impacting their bioavailability and bioaccumulation in water and soil.

The ideal candidate will have tracked experience in environmental chemistry, geochemistry, environmental microbiology, or related areas; demonstrated ability to publish research in high quality journals and meet deadlines; and strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Applicants with practical experiences in microbial analyses and field studies will be preferred.

The review process will commence immediately until the position is filled. The initial contract is one-year and renewable depending on performance and availability of funding. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit an application that includes a cover letter that describes the applicant’s research experience and qualifications related to this position, detailed curriculum vitae with a full list of research publications, and contact information of three academic references to Dr. Lijie Zhang (lijie.zhang@njit.edu).
