Job Description

The Synergy Team for Clean Lands and Water (“Synergy Team”) led by Dr. Wonjae Chang (Department of Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan), is recruiting a Living Skies postdoctoral fellow. The collaborative research being conducted by the interdisciplinary Synergy Team is focused on the development of salinity treatment strategies for agricultural water that are adapted to animal and plant production practices in Saskatchewan. The Synergy Team is comprised of six research teams at the University of Saskatchewan led by professors in Environmental Engineering, Geoenvironmental Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Animal Sciences. The Living Skies postdoctoral fellow will be exposed to a dynamic and collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.

Qualifications: The goal of the research is to develop cost-effective treatment strategies for salinized agricultural water in consideration of the natural tolerance of animals and plants in Saskatchewan. Experience in R&D and experimental field research is an asset, particularly in projects related to the development, scale-up, piloting, mobilization, optimization, and implementation of desalination technology, water/wastewater treatment technology, remediation systems, or the development of treatment agents/media/materials. A Living Skies PDF candidate should have a formal research background related to desalination, water treatment, wastewater treatment, or materials engineering for water treatment. The candidate should have completed a Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering, water treatment, wastewater treatment, materials/mineral engineering for environmental applications, or in another closely related field.

The capacity to produce high-impact journal publications in a timely manner and strong written and oral English communication skills are required. Professional communication and leadership will be needed throughout the research project when collaborating with technical experts from the industry.
