Job Description

The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Riverside, in Dr. Haizhou Liu’s research group, is seeking multiple postdoctoral researchers in the area of water reuse, desalination and emerging contaminants. The researcher will conduct research on water treatment, water reuse and desalination technologies, including photochemical and redox-driven processes, for the treatment of reclaimed water, membrane concentrate and water distribution system issues. A range of inorganic and organic contaminants will be emphasized, including heavy metals, persistent organic contaminants, and PFAS. The successful applicant is expected to work independently on projects funded by federal agencies, and contribute to other ongoing investigations in the lab, as well as ongoing collaboration with scientists from the Chemistry and Environmental Sciences Departments at UC Riverside and other universities.

Postdocs who have completed training from Dr. Haizhou Liu’s group have been very completive in the job market, and all launched very successful academic or industrial careers. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related field. In addition, a strong track-record in chemistry and water treatment is required, including a proven publication record on these topics in leading peer-reviewed journals. Experience with aquatic photochemistry, electrochemistry, separation process, and LC-MS is an advantage.
