Job Description

A post-doctoral research associate position is available in the area of environmental bioinformatics, environmental microbiology, and prokaryotic genomics in Dr. Ramesh Goel’s research group at the University of Utah. The successful applicant will be engaged in convergent research in harmful algal blooms in inland waters, engineered bioreactors, metabolic engineering, and phage biology. In this collaborative project, the applicant will be expected to interact with several other researchers from multiple institutes at the national and international levels. The applicant is expected to supervise graduate students in Dr. Goel’s research group and interact with collaborators and stakeholders. A robust mentoring plan has been developed for the successful applicant to prepare the applicant for future job possibilities in academia and industry. The research requires field sampling from lakes, rivers, and laboratory-scale bioreactors, molecular analysis, metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics. Candidates should possess a doctoral degree in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, computer bioinformatics, or a related field. Salary will be commensurate with experience level.
