Job Description and Requirements
One open graduate research assistant position (for Ph.D. candidates only, full scholarship) is available immediately in the College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The research focus is on advanced functional materials for energy and environmental applications, including but not limited to, photocatalysts, energy storage materials, membranes, and sensors. Highly motivated students with Master's degrees in the following fields, including but not limited to, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Solid State Physics are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with strong experimental skills in advanced functional materials synthesis and characterization will be considered a plus. Students with theoretical backgrounds, such as CFD simulation and DFT modeling, are also strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates should have strong motivation and passion for doing research on advanced functional materials.
English proficiency for international applicants: GRE (Quantitative Analysis 150+) and TOEFL (90+, or IELTS, 6.5+) are required for admission by VCU. Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
