Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

One postdoctoral fellow research position with a strong focus in Water Treatment and Data Analytics is available in the Centre for Water Resources Studies (CWRS) at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The candidate will work with Dr. Graham Gagnon and Dr. Amina Stoddart on multidisciplinary research projects related to water quality and treatment and data science for either drinking water and/or wastewater applications.

 

Applicants should be enthusiastic and motivated, have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, environmental science, computer science, microbiology, or a related field, and have strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful applicant will have the option to supervise graduate students. Experience with laboratory research and water sample analysis are strongly preferred, with particular emphasis on the following requirements. 

 

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in R or similar program, with experience in data wrangling/cleaning (water quality data), spatiotemporal analysis and modeling, data visualization, and/or Shiny dashboards (or similar).

  • Experience with analytical instruments and method development (e.g., HPLC, ICPMS, SPE)

  • Other analytical skills (e.g., solid phase extraction) considered as assets

  • Evidence of contribution toward published peer-reviewed materials and research reports

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

 

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in environmental science/engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, microbiology or a related field.

 

Salary Range: $54,000 to $59,000

Start Date: September 2023 or earliest available start date.

Duration of appointment: The initial appointment will be for one year, with the option to renew for a second year.
