3-Year Postdoctoral Position in Impacts of Emerging Pollutants on Microbiomes

Are you a highly skilled and ambitious researcher looking to make a significant impact in the field of emerging pollutants and their effects on human and environmental microbiomes? The Centre of Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science at the University of Vienna is offering an exceptional opportunity for a 3-year Postdoctoral position to investigate the impact of emerging contaminants, such as tire wear particles and non-exhaust car emissions, on the human and environmental microbiome. Join our world-leading team of microbiome researchers and contribute to cutting-edge research funded by the Austrian Cluster of Excellence initiative (https://microplanet.at/).

Your Postdoctoral Project:
In this exciting research project, you will delve into the crucial intersection of emerging pollutants and microbiomes to understand their effects on both human and environmental health. Your primary focus will be on particulate contaminants, such as tire wear particles and non-exhaust car emissions, and their potential impact on the delicate balance of microbiomes. By utilizing advanced high-end mass spectrometry techniques, you will investigate both organic and inorganic contaminants present in the environment and their interactions with the microbiome. Your work will be instrumental in advancing our understanding of the effects of emerging pollutants on these vital ecosystems and contribute to the development of novel strategies for mitigating their impact. This project offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field and be part of an ambitious research team with a focus on microbiome research.
