Your Project:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) pose a significant threat to the environment, particularly in groundwater contamination. In this project, we aim to tackle this urgent issue by developing cutting-edge techniques for in-situ and on-site PFAS remediation. Your research will be instrumental in advancing our understanding of PFAS behavior in different environmental settings and designing effective remediation strategies. This project offers a unique opportunity to work alongside renowned experts in the field and collaborate with industry partners to find sustainable solutions for PFAS pollution. We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student (m/f/x) with a passion for environmental science and a strong interest in developing innovative remediation techniques for PFAS.

The Environmental Geosciences division (EDGE) is an integral part of the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CMESS) at the esteemed University of Vienna (Austria). Our research group consists of a dynamic, international team of researchers dedicated to addressing critical environmental challenges in a rapidly changing world. Our research spans a wide range of topics, from emerging contaminants to climate change. As a PhD candidate in this project, you will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental science, chemistry, and engineering, fostering collaborations with both academic and industrial partners.

Your Profile:
To be considered for this position, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Chemistry, Engineering, or related fields.
- Laboratory experience and a strong knowledge of environmental science and chemical analysis.
- Familiarity with remediation techniques or experience in related research areas would be advantageous.
- Fluent spoken and written English communication skills.
- High motivation, independence, and reliability.
