A postdoctoral associate appointment is available in the Gilbertson Group at Duke University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. I am seeking a highly motivated engineer or scientist with experience in life cycle assessment and related tools for evaluating emerging material and product sustainability. The candidate will integrate into active projects aimed at developing sustainable solutions to challenges in food production and drinking water treatment. There will be the opportunity to collaborate on multiple research projects, mentor students, teach/train other researchers in LCA tools, and develop independent research projects as desired.
The successful applicant will possess a PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental engineering or a related field, have an excellent academic record, and work well in a collaborative research environment. A background in materials science/engineering/chemistry, green chemistry, and/or environmental sustainability research is desired. The candidate should have the ability and be excited to work in a diverse lab group setting, plan and conduct assessments independently and collaboratively, interpret data, and present results to diverse audiences. Fluency in English (written and oral) is required. Excellent scientific writing skills, the ability to organize data and clearly disseminate your findings and scientific concepts are essential.
The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility for extension. Salary will follow the NIH, NRSA FY 2023 postdoctoral trainee and fellows stipend levels based on the candidate’s experience. The starting date is flexible and ideally will begin in the Fall 2023.
