Job Description

Job Description: One Ph.D. position and one postdoc position are immediately available in Dr. Weilan Zhang’s lab in the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at the University at Albany (UAlbany). The recruited Ph.D. student and postdoc researcher will work on projects related to remediation of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the environment. Specifically, the student/postdoc will be involved in research on phytoremediation, sorption, stabilization, and thermal degradation of PFAS.

 

Qualifications: For the Ph.D. position, the candidates must have an MS degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The successful applicants are expected to have experience in fundamental and applied research related to using physical, chemical, and biological processes to address remediation of emerging contaminants. Knowledge of PFAS is highly desired for the potential Ph.D. student but required for the postdoc. Experience with LC-MS-MS, high resolution MS, IC, GC, and other routine analytical instrumentation is preferred.
