The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Washington State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in environmental engineering to start Fall 2024. We are looking for intellectual leaders with an ability to think broadly and collaborate within and outside the department to provide creative solutions to growing challenges related to environmental engineering. These include but are not limited to: mitigating and adapting to climate change; the transport, treatment, and impacts of emerging micropollutants; minimizing energy and chemical use in water treatment systems; the development of green infrastructure; water reuse and resource recovery; and incorporating equity into environmental engineering design and decision-making. We are looking for scholars grounded in fundamentals, with problem solving skills and a passion to make a societal impact.

Required Qualifications:
An earned doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field at the start of the appointment.
Ability to develop an externally-funded research program leading to national recognition, teach core engineering courses and other courses pertaining to environmental engineering, and contribute to departmental service.
Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated commitment and/or interest to collaborate with diverse internal and external groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong record of research and scholarship.
- Demonstrated records in teaching and professional service.
- A demonstrated background in one or more of the targeted areas mentioned above.
- A demonstrated potential for meeting the expectations through activities such as journal publications, professional conference presentations, teaching experience, outreach, and related activities.
- Willingness to attain Professional Engineering licensure.
Screening of applicants will begin December 1, 2023 and continue until the position is filled.
