The Water Quality and Environmental Biotechnology laboratory at the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, has one research assistantship position for a PhD student with background in environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental microbiology, molecular biology, bioengineering, and other related disciplines. The position will work on a research project investigating the fate of antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes in wastewater treatment processes and in receiving waterbody. Prior experiences with antibiotic resistance in wastewater and in the environment are desirable, and experiences with molecular, metagenomic, and bioinformatic tools are beneficial. The successful applicant should be self-motivated and with good communication skills.
