Dr. Kelly Good invites applications for multiple graduate research assistant Ph.D. positions in her research group at Villanova University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Potential project topics may include food-energy-water systems, microplastics and emerging contaminants in green stormwater infrastructure, and watershed systems analysis to protect drinking water sources.
Applicants should be self-motivated and curious, have excellent communication skills, and be willing to work in a collaborative environment. Experience with GIS, programming (Python, R, others), and/or laboratory work are valued and depend on the project but not required. The applicant should have their BS or MS in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field (must be completed by the time of hire). Preference will be given to applicants who already have their M.S. in a relevant field.
The Good Research Group works in areas that are interdisciplinary and have relevance across engineering, health, and policy, and thus applicants from a variety of backgrounds will be considered. Individuals from non-traditional backgrounds, historically marginalized, or underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. The hired Ph.D. student(s) will also be a part of the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems (VCRWS). VCRWS has the mission to engage with society to create resilient engineered solutions for global water challenges. Villanova University is a national university with robust doctoral and masters programs, with ample professional development opportunities.
