Job Description

A Ph.D. research assistant position is available in the Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory at Purdue University for the Spring or Fall semester of 2024. The successful candidate will study the bioaccumulation and biosorption of PFAS and their precursors in the environment.

The ideal candidate should have: 1) master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in environmental microbiology, environmental engineering, environmental chemistry, environmental science, or related fields; 2) experience in using chemical and biological analytical instruments, e.g., LC/MS, qPCR, and sequencing analysis; 3) good written and oral communication skills; and 4) strong motivation for fieldwork and laboratory experiments in a collaborative work environment.

The candidate can potentially pursue a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental and Ecological Engineering. According to the 2024 U.S. News and World Report, Purdue's College of Engineering ranks 8th (undergraduate) and 4th (graduate) in the United States. Purdue's Civil Engineering program ranks 4th (undergraduate) and 7th (graduate) and its Environmental and Ecological Engineering program ranks 12th (undergraduate) and 12th (graduate) in the United States.
