Dr. Amanda Marques is recruiting highly motivated PhD students to join her research group in the Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department at Drexel University in the Fall 2024. Looking for candidates interested in working with processing large datasets, applying models and machine learning as tools to describe natural processes, understand causes and impacts of pressing environmental issues, and translate scientific findings into actions to support decision-making and improve the water resource quality for communities. The research will focus on furthering the understanding of contaminant transport in the environment under climate and hydrological change, by describing surface-subsurface water interactions using environmental tracers, including stable water isotopes, identifying drivers of water degradation, and assessing climate change impacts on water systems. Qualifications: Candidates should have a degree in an engineering field, environmental, atmospheric or climate-related science. Dedicated and collaborative individuals, with good communication and scientific writing skills, knowledge of computer programming (Python, R, MATLAB), applied statistics, and/or experience in data analysis and modeling are strongly encouraged to apply.
Application Process: If you are interested in applying, please email applications.waterlab@gmail.com your CV, a 1-page motivation letter, and contact information of at least two references. For full consideration apply by March 5th but review of candidates will continue until the position is filled.
