Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at South Dakota State University invites applicants for a fully funded PhD student position in environmental engineering beginning in Spring 2025. The successful candidate will join the research group of Dr. Guanghui Hua (https://www.sdstate.edu/directory/guanghui-hua). The PhD student will work on formation and control of disinfection byproducts from phenolic precursors in drinking water.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in environmental engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct research independently.
• Experience with water treatment and analytical instruments (gas/liquid/ion chromatography) is preferred.
• English test score (TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo) is required for international applicants.
