Dr. Hou’s lab is seeking to recruit 1 Ph.D. candidate to start in Spring 2024. Ideal candidates should hold an M.S. degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field. Research experience in environmental microbiology, environmental chemistry, or biological engineering is preferred. We encourage motivated students with a strong interest in understanding the transport and fate of microplastics with biofilms in the environment and wastewater treatment processes to apply. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the PI on projects supported by a newly awarded NSF grant (Effects of Biofilm Colonization on the Dynamics of Microplastics in Turbulent Flow, Award #2345709). Admitted applicants will receive full tuition support, a stipend ($2200-2600 per month), and benefits. In addition to the qualifications listed above, candidates must meet all admission requirements of USU and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Interested students should contact Dr. Liyuan Hou at liyuan.hou@usu.edu with “Hou Lab graduate school application” in the subject line. Please include a CV, transcripts, a brief statement of research experience and publications to the email.
