The interdisciplinary field of industrial ecology takes a systems perspective to assess the environmental impacts of our production and consumption systems and identify strategies for impact reduction. At the University of Maine, there is strong interest in these topics and many opportunities for collaboration. The Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) will support growing research of the faculty mentor while empowering the PRA to hone their research, leadership, teaching, and mentoring skills.
In Spring 2026, Professor Miller is teaching two courses while expanding his collaborative research agenda, and requires a postdoctoral associate starting in Summer 2025 to support these efforts, particularly in publishing research articles in high-impact scientific journals and seeking grant funding.
Typical hiring salary for this position is up to $60,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Funding is currently available for one year. Anticipated to be June 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or related field
- Experience conducting LCA studies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting EEIO studies
- Strong academic writing portfolio
- Experience mentoring and teaching students
- Time and project management skills
