Dr. Tonoy Das in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (https://www.tamuk.edu/engineering/departments/even/faculty-and-staff/tonoy-das.html) is seeking a graduate student in pollutant transport, environmental remediation, and water treatment.
The anticipated starting date is Summer (May) / Fall (August) 2025.
About the Lab
The lab is dedicated to developing innovative solutions for water treatment, focusing on addressing global challenges related to water quality, pollutant removal, and water security in the face of climate change. Research efforts center on designing climate-resilient stormwater infrastructure, advanced material development, and investigating containment transport and behavior at the agricultural-urban interface, including PFAS, microplastics, and heavy metals.
Research Opportunities
Students will work on interdisciplinary projects involving:
Investigating the fate and transport of microplastics and PFAS at the agricultural-urban interface.
Exploring sustainable stormwater management to create alternate water resources.
Advanced water treatment systems for urban, agricultural, and industrial applications.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Environmental/Chemical/Agricultural Engineering or a related field.
Strong background or interest in environmental chemistry and water treatment.
Willingness to work in laboratory and field settings.
Demonstrated research aptitude and excellent communication skills.
Prior research experience in environmental chemistry and water treatment.
