We are inviting applications for our NSF REU Site on Sustainability and Resilience in Rural Areas.
Despite their significance, rural areas have historically been underrepresented in research and disproportionately underserved in terms of infrastructure and community development. Challenges posed by climate change, including extreme weather events and shifting environmental dynamics, underscore the pressing need to prioritize sustainability and resilience initiatives to ensure their long-term prosperity and well-being.
In this ten-week summer research program, students will work with faculty and graduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to improve our understanding of how best to address the challenges facing rural environments.
