Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for Research Technician/Assistant to support the Chemical Monitoring of the Lake Maurepas Project. The Research Technician/Assistant will be involved in all aspects of fieldwork, including driving the University's vehicles and boats as well as collecting samples associated with a large chemical monitoring project. Applicants must have extensive experience in conducting fieldwork and should be skilled in driving boats in both lake and riverine environments, and launching and trailering boats. The Research Technician/Assistant will collect samples from Lake Maurepas as well as the Tickfaw, Amite and Blind Rivers and will be involved in data entry and calibrating pollutant real-time sensors. This position requires significant physical exertion, including carrying 20 or more pounds. Candidates must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, as well as long days with possible night and weekend shifts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor or Master degree in engineering (chemical, environmental or similar) or science (chemistry, environmental or similar) by hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience operating boats, conducting field work, equipment maintenance and upkeep Solid evidence of research work experience preferably in pollutant/contaminant monitoring At least one year of professional work experience in environmental data analysis and coding Cumulative under/graduate GPA of at least 3.0.
