The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University (https://www.egr.msu.edu/bae/) is seeking a Ph.D. student to work under the guidance of Dr. Jade Mitchell (https://www.egr.msu.edu/bae/profiles/jade) beginning January 2022. Specific projects focus on quantitative microbial risk assessment in a number of multimedia environments (water, food, air, etc.) Candidate will join a highly collaborative team. Ongoing projects in the lab address modeling public health implications from wastewater surveillance of SARS-CoV-2; evaluating risks associated with Listeria from food safety practices; WASH practices and others.
The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. Engineering and an M.S. in Biological Engineering or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, Microbiology, or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience with statistical and computational methods, exposure and/or risk modeling.
