Job Description

The Hooman's Research Group within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Florida International University invites applications for an open Ph.D. position. The area focuses on sorption-based, high-pressure membrane-based, and advanced oxidation processes for the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, as well as other refractory micropollutants, from impacted water streams.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in civil and/or environmental engineering or equivalent, with a solid foundation in chemistry and process engineering, is required.
  • Willingness to design and build bench and pilot-scale systems
  • Ability to work independently, mentor students, and collaborate in a team
  • Experience with analytical lab instruments (e.g., LC-MS, TOC analyzer) and proficiency in data analysis
  • Excellent written and spoken English Responsibilities
  • Experimental design, laboratory skills and data management
  • Write scientific publications, reports, policy briefs, and guidelines
  • Operate LC-MS systems
  • Manage, operational, financial, and project reports
