Job Description

The Center for Advanced Materials & Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Georgia Southern University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the research group of Dr. Rocio Perez, Dr. Jianzhou He, and Dr. Stetson Rowles. This SERDP-funded project addresses Department of Defense needs for environmentally friendly methods to manage polymer-metal composite waste.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments on ionic liquids, polymer recycling, and solubilization
  • Develop manuscripts and presentations of research findings
  • Assist with project proposals, presentations, and reports
  • Manage graduate and undergraduate researchers
  • Oversee laboratory experiments and data management
  • Disseminate research through peer-reviewed publications and presentations


Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, materials science, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
  • Expertise in ionic liquids, polymer recycling, and solubilization
  • Publication record in related topics
  • Experience with common characterization techniques
  • Excellent laboratory skills and proficiency in data processing software


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience synthesizing and characterizing ionic liquids
  • Experience with polymer solubilization and recycling
  • Experience with spectroscopic/analytical techniques
  • Grant writing experience


Salary: $56,000
This position is 100% grant-funded; continued employment contingent on funding availability
