The Center for Advanced Materials & Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Georgia Southern University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the research group of Dr. Rocio Perez, Dr. Jianzhou He, and Dr. Stetson Rowles. This SERDP-funded project addresses Department of Defense needs for environmentally friendly methods to manage polymer-metal composite waste.
Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments on ionic liquids, polymer recycling, and solubilization
- Develop manuscripts and presentations of research findings
- Assist with project proposals, presentations, and reports
- Manage graduate and undergraduate researchers
- Oversee laboratory experiments and data management
- Disseminate research through peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry, materials science, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
- Expertise in ionic liquids, polymer recycling, and solubilization
- Publication record in related topics
- Experience with common characterization techniques
- Excellent laboratory skills and proficiency in data processing software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience synthesizing and characterizing ionic liquids
- Experience with polymer solubilization and recycling
- Experience with spectroscopic/analytical techniques
- Grant writing experience
Salary: $56,000
This position is 100% grant-funded; continued employment contingent on funding availability
