Job Description

Position Overview:

The Fahrenfeld Lab (Civil & Environmental Engineering, Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA) invites applications for graduate assistant starting in September 2025. The successful candidate will work on a plastic pollution systematic literature review. The project aims to review human and ecological health impacts of microplastics, sources and fate of microplastics in state waters, and removal technologies in water, among other questions. The successful candidate will join the Fahrenfeld Lab, a multidisciplinary team with experience and expertise in the fields of environmental engineering and applied environmental organic chemistry.

Duration:

This one-year project is appropriate for a MS candidate.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in environmental engineering, civil & environmental engineering, or environmental sciences.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Coursework on chemistry, organic chemistry, and environmental chemistry.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with toxicology and risk assessment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral English).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
