Prof. William Moe’s research group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to support an interdisciplinary project investigating the role that biodegradation and biotransformation may play in determining the environmental fate of amines, nitrosamines, and nitramines associated with carbon capture and sequestration. Responsibilities will include the use of culture-based techniques to enrich, isolate, and characterize bacteria, the use of DNA-based techniques, training of undergraduate and graduate students, and preparation of research publications.
Required qualifications: a Ph.D. degree in microbiology, environmental engineering, or a related field.
Desirable qualifications include experience in performing nucleic acid-based analyses (DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR), the use and interpretation of next-generation sequencing approaches, culture of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, bacterial taxonomy, bioinformatics, and analytical tools for chemical analyses. Additional desired qualifications include a record of prior publishing activities and excellent communication skills.
This is a one-year appointment with the possibility for renewal. Preferred start date: January 2026 (negotiable). Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
