Job Description

The Department of Civil Engineering at Global Campus, Kyung Hee University at Yongin City, Republic of Korea seeks to recruit one Postdoc to work in the field of chemical treatment organic micropollutants in water. This position is available immediately.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a PhD in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related discipline, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

The successful applicant is expected to have rich experience in fundamental and applied research related to using chemical processes in water treatment. Expertise in two or more research areas are anticipated, such as (1) synthesis and modification of catalysts, especially carbon-based materials, (2) characterization (XPS, XRD, SEM, TEM, voltammetry, FTIR, etc.) of the catalysts, (3) catalytic oxidation/reduction of organic (micro)pollutants, especially pharmaceuticals, and (4) the mechanisms of the catalytic oxidation/reduction. Experience with analytical instrumentation, such as UV/Vis spectroscopy, HPLC and HPLC-MS-MS is required. For more information, please refer the publications:

Besides technical expertise, the candidate must be self-driven, independent, and highly organized; enjoys working as a member of a team and collaborative research; possesses proven publication record and excellent skills in oral communication and writing papers in English.

Salary and Benefits

The initial appointment is for one year but may be extended depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability. Salary is based on qualifications. Health insurance will be offered, as a part of the salary.
