Postdoctoral Position in Environmental Biotechnology Available at the Chu Biotechnology Lab at Texas A&M University
Dr. Chu’s Biotechnology Laboratory in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in environmental biotechnology. The position is available starting as early as August 2026.
The successful applicant will conduct cutting-edge research in applied and environmental microbiology, with a focus on the fate, transport, removal, and biodegradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in various PFAS-impacted matrices, including soil, biosolids, water, and plants. Additionally, the successful applicant will have opportunities to participate in other exciting ongoing bio-related research projects.
Required qualification:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Synthetic Biology, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in molecular cloning, synthetic biology, genetic engineering, and microbial strain engineering (such as CRISPR).
- Experience with metabolic engineering, metabolic modeling, and/or bioinformatic analysis of omics datasets.
- Proficiency in programming (Python, R, MATLAB, or similar) for biological data analysis.
- Strong scientific writing, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Background with machine learning applications for biological data analysis.
Skilled with laboratory techniques such as microbial cultivation and molecular biology methods.
The initial appointment will be for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal depending on research progress and satisfactory performance. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
