The Loeb lab in the Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with strong background in water chemistry, microbiology, and water treatment to join our team. The researcher will work on projects related to the disinfection and sanitization of water and surfaces using novel chemical and physical treatment processes. The candidate will be expected to have advance knowledge of disinfection processes, environmental microbiology, oxidative inactivation of pathogens, and related laboratory experience in these areas. A key aspect of the position involves direct interaction with industrial partner Ponsera, including evaluation, prototyping, and optimizing of newly developed treatment processes. The postdoc will also be expected to mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the lab, contribute to collaborative research projects, and prepare reports and manuscripts for publication, among other scholarly activities. They will be encouraged to participate in grant writing, conference presentations, and professional and career development activities. This is a two-year appointment, with the possibility of extension, depending on job performance and funding availability. Desired Qualifications:
- Ph.D in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, chemistry, microbiology or related field
- Experience with disinfection, water treatment, environmental pathogen inactivation or related laboratory studies
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills
