The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in environmental engineering with an anticipated start in fall 2027. We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in environmental chemistry as applied to the fate and transport of contaminants in natural waters, anthropogenic impacts on the natural environment (e.g., chemical or ecological), engineered water treatment systems, and resource management and recovery.
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring, to develop an externally-funded research program in their technical area, to contribute professional leadership and service to their unit and their professional community, and to cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community. The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% leadership and service.
The successful candidate would join the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and participate in the multi-disciplinary Environmental Engineering Program in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, one of the world's most research-active institutions in areas of environmental engineering, science, and policy studies.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a research doctorate in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field conferred by the time they start in their faculty role. Candidates should have the ability to develop an externally-funded research program that enables the growth of new research directions or strengthens the existing research in the department, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering, and to contribute to a collaborative environment that attracts and supports students from all backgrounds.
