Job Description: 

A full-time post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Washington (UW) with Professor Gregory Korshin as the advisor to the Postdoctoral Scholar. CEE is seeking a post-doctoral candidate with a strong background in environmental chemistry, environmental engineering, and water treatment. The successful candidate will investigate the removal of heavy metals and related contaminants from landfill leachate and other complex water matrixes. The position will focus on the development and implementation of novel treatment approaches. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and possess strong problem-solving skills and should have publications and conference presentations. Excellent writing skills and oral communication, the ability to organize and interpret data, and disseminate research findings in top-teer refereed journals are essential. A background in automation of water treatment processes is a plus.

This position is a full-time 100% FTE appointment. The initial appointment will be for a 12-month period, with renewal subject to performance and funding situation. We offer competitive salary and benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related area is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Background in water treatment technologies, reactor design, environmental chemistry.
