Job Description

TheSustainable Materials Group of Drs. Robert Anex and Bu Wang at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking to hire a post-doctoral research associate to design, build, test, and analyze a novel CO2 direct air capture system that stores captured carbon as carbon-negative cementitious materials. The position will focus on process modeling of CO2 direct air capture combined with techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment. Process modeling will support system design and optimization to accommodate feedstock variation. Required qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in chemical engineering or closely related discipline; knowledge of process design and modeling, techno-economic analysis, and excellent mathematical and spoken and written English language skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with Aspen Plus process simulation software, modeling reaction kinetics, carbonate chemistry, experience with machine learning, and fabrication of experimental equipment.
